Hi all,

Author here.  The “Author’s Notes” section of The Philosopher’s Monocle is separate from its main “Essays” content in that it’s mostly a place for blog visitors to catch up on general updates and announcements.

For the first edition of Author’s Notes, I wanted to highlight that The Philosopher’s Monocle is relatively new and for the reader to not be discouraged if the content seems a little light or the website seems a little “simple”.  With time, I hope that this website can blossom into a library of wealth and discussion.  The current expected output is one essay per week but as the blog gains traction and more visitors, that output may need adjustment.  As for the simplicity of the site, that is by design.  My focus is the dissemination of wisdom, not to optimize my visitor retention rate or cram so many ads onto the page that it gets in the way of the message.  That’s not to say there won’t be some flavors of “business” and “monetization” sprinkled throughout the site every now and then, but when and if that time comes, I want to keep it as non-invasive as possible.

During your visit to The Philosopher’s Monocle, you may also notice a Contact Me page.  Feel free to use this function to contact me directly:  comments, questions, criticisms, or just a funny joke are all welcome.  As I mentioned in the About page, I want this site to offer an opportunity of dialogue between myself and the readers, not just a pulpit for me to lecture from.  Readers can let their voices be heard by either one) Leaving a comment on a particular blog post for myself and all other readers to see or two) Using the Contact Me page for a direct, private message to just me, The Author.  Please note that although I always read and appreciate your comments, I am unable to respond to all of them, but I will try. NOTE: comments on essays is not currently available but direct messaging me through the Contact Me page is.

Finally: let’s have some fun!  I do not want this site to be another place of stress for my readers.  With that, I ask anyone who does wish to leave a comment, either on an essay or to me directly, do so with respect.  We’re all on this journey together and we all play a role in the betterment of humanity.

Sincerely,

The Author
